NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (VANDERBIJLPARK CAMPUS) FACULTY OF EDUCATION SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES IN EDUCATION VACANCY: LECTURER POSITION NUMBER: V000312 PEROMNES: A8 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The purpose of this position is to teach Mathematics, do research and be involved in Community engagement in the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education, subject group Mathematics Education on the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the NWU

• A bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) with specialisation in Mathematics at 3rd year level as major or on fourth year level in the B.Ed programme.
• An honours’ degree (NQF level 8) in Mathematics Education.
• A PGCE with Mathematics as one of the didactics.
• A master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Mathematics Education (can be linked to Curriculum studies or Special needs Education).
• Professional registration with SACE.

·        A minimum of three (3) years’ experience teaching Mathematics in FET Phase – should have experience of Grade 12 teaching.

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

·         A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in teaching Mathematics at a tertiary institution.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

•          Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery.
•          Computer proficient – command of Word, Power point and Excel. Experience of Efundi will be beneficial.
•         Language proficiency to function in a multilingual environment.
•         Teaching experience at primary/secondary/tertiary level.

 

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

•         Good interpersonal relations.
•        The ability to work with large groups of people.
•          Ability to adhere to timelines and deadlines.
•         Good communication skills (verbal, written and use of technology).
•        Language skills in order to function in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
•         Ability to work independent, problem solving, systematically and innovative.
•          Ability to function effectively under pressure.

   REMUNERATION

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
