PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Responsible for managing IT solutions that integrate across multiple business areas. The role is responsible for systematic and methodical investigation, analysis and documentation of business functions, processes and the information they utilize across applications. Identifies business needs and translates them into timely and effective IT solutions that enhance business functions and processes. These solutions may include systems development, process improvement and alignment, organisational change, documentation of functional requirements and ensure best practices. Ensures that all stakeholders share a clear understanding of the proposed IT solutions and their implementations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stakeholder engagement
- Acts as a liaison between business and the IT teams.
- Builds long-term collaborative relationships across business areas.
- Influences and explains technical details to non-technical stakeholders in a persuasive and clear manner.
Implement cost effective solutions
- Determines the feasibility of internal or external IT solutions
- Evaluates, designs and document business architecture.
- Conducts feasibility studies, creates functional requirements for new IT solutions and processes according to approved standards and methodologies.
Business Optimisation
- Reviews impacted business processes and collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and drive business process improvements that result in cost savings, improved quality, enhance efficiencies, minimizing risk, and cycle times.
Documentation
- Create comprehensive and relevant documentation throughout system solution lifecycle, addressing proposals, requirements, business processes and flows, test and implementation plans.
Change management
- Works with stakeholders to minimize resistance and the impact of change on business.
- Involved in preparing change management plans, defines change management duties and creates an understanding in and across business areas when implementing new solutions.
Quality Assurance
- Establishes acceptance criteria, effective testing plans and methods to satisfy quality, success and auditability of any solution implemented.
Resource management
- Co-ordinate and supervise internal and external resources within smaller teams for IT business solutions development and implementation.
- Accountable for some aspects of project deliverables.
Minimum requirements
- A bachelor’s degree/advanced diploma in Information Technology (NQF level 7).
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-5 years of experience in understanding all aspects of IT solution development and implementation (analysis, requirements, design, development, test, implementation, document, and support).
- 2-5 years of experience in knowledge of IT industry standards and best practices in solution architecture and design.
RECOMMENDATION
- BA Certification, BPM Certification.
- Registration with the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to analyse complex data
- Experience in writing SQL reports is recommended
- Experience in delivering large scale and complex IT solutions.
- Supervise solution implementations using approved methodologies, SDLC and best practice concepts.
- Experience in Business Process Modelling is recommended.
- Working experience of data migration and integration tools.
- Conceptual knowledge of information technologies (e.g. relational databases, query tools, etc.) and methodologies (e.g. Agile/Scrum methodology, TOGAF, quality assurance principles etc.).
- Ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Ability to understand business concepts and evaluate the impact of business changes on IT systems.
- Knowledge of project management is recommended.
- Must be able to work on simultaneous projects, across different environments and to meet multiple deadlines.
- Experience of Higher education processes is recommended.
- Customer consulting experience is recommended.
- Knowledge of Wiki mark-ups Confluence and JIRA.

- Strong mentoring/coaching skills.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Team player with strong technical leadership and negotiation skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance to research and formulate a solution to a problem.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
