PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching and learning for contact and distance learning students in the subject Afrikaans (Text- and Sociolinguistics).
- Personal Research, Innovation and/or Creative Output.
- Social Responsiveness and Industry Involvement.
- Programme development.
- Teaching practice assessments.
- Higher Degree Supervision.
- Administration and other activities.
Minimum requirements
· Junior Lecturer: An Honours / Bed Honours in Afrikaans Linguistics and Methodology. (NQF level 8)
· Lecturer: A Master of Arts/Master of Education in Afrikaans Linguistics and Methodology. (NQF level 9)
· A Professional teaching qualification in Afrikaans language education. (NQF level 7)
· A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in Primary or Secondary school.
Added Advantage
- Registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
- Competency in linguistics and methodology.
- ICT competence and research expertise.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
Key Behavioural Competencies
- Critical thinking skills, the ability to handle conflict and the ability to function creatively and innovatively.
- The ability to function within a team.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
