Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Management of IT-related and administrative issues within the School of Computer Science and Information Systems.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Support

  • Ensuring the availability of hardware & software, as well as managing the replacement and maintenance of computers in SCSIS laboratorial, in line with campus policy & adherence to the conditions set out in the curriculum.

Staff Support

  • Managing replacement & maintenance of staff computers in line with campus policy & for specialized needs, as well as managing the support for hardware & software issues and computer & audio-visual support, collaborating with campus services.

Line manager for the IT Technologist

  • Managing and supporting the IT Technician to ensure smooth operating of computer support.

Financial support

  • Acquire new computers, software, printers & computer related equipment as needed within budget computer & audio-visual support collaborating with campus services, advise staff & supply computer related equipment timely & within budget.

Minimum requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Information Systems or relevant (NQF Level 7).
  • A minimum of three (3) year administration experience in a university environment. 

ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:

  • A Bachelor of Science honors degree in Computer Science and Information Systems or relevant (NQF Level 8).

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Good communication and liaison with regard to internal and external enquiries.
  • Functioning in a team environment.
  • Office management and time management.
  • Must be able to compile relevant documentation for audit purposes.
  • Work under pressure and reach deadlines.
  • Need administrative skills.
  • Problem solving.

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
