Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to implement the NWU employee health and wellness strategy through ensuring the rendering of health and wellness services to staff members aimed at enhancing employee productivity and well-being.

Wellness Execution 
a). Individual psychosocial wellness:
  • Assessments.
  • Re-active interventions conducted in terms of the NWU Wellness protocol.
  • All administration and record keeping as prescribed by Ethical body and NWU regulations.
  • Intake management.
  • Case management.
  • Updating client register.
  • External and internal referral.
  • Compile reports.
  • Client file administration.
  • Case evaluation.
  • Group interventions.
  • Follow-up.
  • Critical incident debriefing.
b). Individual physical wellness:
  • Arrange physical wellness activities e.g be active days.
  • Arrange wellness days and record keeping of these days.
  • Arrange ergonomic awareness sessions.
  • Arrange health screenings and stress management interventions.
  • Contribute to the development of physical wellness activities as identified through needs of the NWU (medical aid reports, group life insurance reports).
  • Do need assessments Organisational wellness.
  • Assessments and delivering interventions.
  • Presentation of workshops: Management training, employee training – Stress management, emotional intelligence, conflict management, assertiveness, communication skills.
  • Contribute to the developing of interventions that will contributing desired organisational culture.
  • Contribute to the development of interventions that will promote employee engagement.
  • Arranging of workshops, financial management, early retirement planning.
  • Family wellness- interpersonal relationships etc. on group level – e.g marital skills.
  • Advising management.
  • Marketing of all services.
Health and productivity management
  • Contribute to developing interventions from statistics obtained from external and internal sources.
  • Contributing to effective absenteeism management strategy and policy.
  • Advise managers on how to manage sick leave.
  • Presentations to managers on how to manage incapacity due to ill health.
  • Assess and refer incapacity due to ill health cases.
  • Mental Health and psychosomatic illness management interventions.
  • Absenteeism management – advising management.
HIV & AIDS & TB and STI workplace program
  • Awareness activities.
  • Counselling.
  • Offer HIV counselling and testing at health promotion days.
Administration and records management 
a). Case file management:
  • Case registration.
  • Completion and filing of intake sheets.
  • Completion and filing of process reports.
  • Completion and filing of referral reports.
  • Completion and filing of assessment documents.
  • Completion and filing of progress reports.
  • Emails.
  • Completion of activity report.
  • Completion and filing of all therapeutic contracts and solution planning agreements.
  • Completion and filing of all closure reports.
  • Updating of case register.
b). Project file management:
  • File registration.
  • Completion and filing of all process reports.
  • Completion and filing of all progress reports.
  • Filing of all attendance registers.
  • Completion and filing of all evaluation reports.
  • Emails.
  • Facilitate registration processes for workshops and all other activities.
  • Compiling file activity register.
  • Compiling of closing reports for files.
Monitoring and evaluation 
  • Impact assessment surveys administered.
  • Contribute to compiling a trend report and interventions that flows from these reports.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual HIV statistics.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual EAP statistics.
  • Complete health statistics and trends analysis after Health interventions (e.g wellness days) in order to develop trends and interventions.
  • Obtain monthly sick leave report.
  • Obtain trends on mental health and psychosomatic illness.
Research and training 
  • Research information to develop wellness material.
  • Research on latest wellness and therapy trends.
  • Contribute during wellness operational planning.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work B Psych/B.A social or applicable degree.
  • HPCSA Registered as a counsellor/psychologist or SACSSP Registered as a social worker.
  • 3 years’ experience in Employee Assistance Program.
  • 3 years’ experience in Counselling.
  • 3 years’ experience in Presentation.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Valid drivers license.
