Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To fill a vacancy in the School of Professional Studies in Education in the subject group Education Management Leadership who often need to assist the subject groups, Comparative Education and/or Education Law.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules / Teaching modules in Education Management & Leadership and related fields including Comparative Education and/or Education Law
  • Supervising MEd-students
  • Innovative design and development of study guides and study material
Research
  • Research publications/Scholarly guidance, and innovation regarding research in Education Management & Leadership and/or related fields including Comparative Education and/or Education Law. 
Community Engagement
  • Delivering community service and involvement in community engagement programme.

Minimum requirements

  • A PhD in Educational Management and Leadership, and/or related fields including Comparative Education and/or Education Law (NQF 10)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience in a higher education – demonstrate excellence in teaching and supervision.
  • Completed supervision of at least 1 master’s student.
  •  Accredited research publications of a high quality.
  • Involvement in community engagement projects and sharing of expertise.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
  •  Expertise in Comparative Education and/or Education Law. 
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)
  • Active academic leadership.
  • Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery.
  • Computer proficiency.
  •  Language proficiency to function in a multilingual environment.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
  • Good interpersonal relations.
  • Be able to adhere to timetables and deadlines.
  • Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
