Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To fill a vacancy in the School of Professional Studies in Education in the subject group Education Management Leadership who often need to assist the subject groups, Comparative Education and/or Education Law.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules / Teaching modules in Education Management & Leadership and related fields including Comparative Education and/or Education Law
- Supervising MEd-students
- Innovative design and development of study guides and study material
Research
- Research publications/Scholarly guidance, and innovation regarding research in Education Management & Leadership and/or related fields including Comparative Education and/or Education Law.
Community Engagement
- Delivering community service and involvement in community engagement programme.
Minimum requirements
- A PhD in Educational Management and Leadership, and/or related fields including Comparative Education and/or Education Law (NQF 10)
- A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience in a higher education – demonstrate excellence in teaching and supervision.
- Completed supervision of at least 1 master’s student.
- Accredited research publications of a high quality.
- Involvement in community engagement projects and sharing of expertise.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
- Expertise in Comparative Education and/or Education Law.
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)
- Active academic leadership.
- Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery.
- Computer proficiency.
- Language proficiency to function in a multilingual environment.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
- Good interpersonal relations.
- Be able to adhere to timetables and deadlines.
- Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
