Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
· Lecture business / marketing management modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
· Create and produce research outputs (peer-reviewed articles, master’s dissertations and PhD theses, conference papers and peer-reviewed chapters/books) through own research efforts and the efforts of master’s and PhD students by using the best available research methods and techniques.
· Initiate, develop, register and present community engagement projects.
· Mentor academics in the School of Management Sciences in teaching and research-related areas.
· Contribute to and enhance the national and international collaboration networks in the School of Management Sciences.
· Contribute to the creation of an environment that promotes growth, equality, and freedom of speech.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Senior Lecturer:
Teaching:
- The preparation and delivery of lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Module and curriculum development and transformation.
- Developing study material and study guides.
- Initiate, develop, register and present short learning programs (SLP’s).
- Supervision of Master's and PhD students.
- Marking and assessment.
- Consultation with students.
Research:
- Conduct research and publish findings in respected national and international journals (IBSS/Scopus/ISI).
- Initiate and maintain national research networks.
- Participate in the evaluation of ethics and research proposals.
- Added Advantage: NRF-rated researcher
Social Responsibility:
- Initiate, develop, register and present community engagement projects which focus on work-integrated learning, community research, and outreach projects.
- Industry involvement in terms of SLP’s, consultation, case study research and guest lecturing.
Academic Leadership:
- Participate in the school’s management structures.
2. Associate Professor:
Teaching:

Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Senior Lecturer:
- A PhD (NQF level 10) with a research master’s- (NQF level 9), honours (NQF level 8) and undergraduate (NQF level 7) qualifications in Business or Marketing management.
- A minimum of 5 years of lecturing experience within a higher education institution.
- Completed Master’s supervision
- At least two accredited journal publications.
- Proven record of national relations with academics and higher education institutions on research and/or teaching collaboration.
- Proven record of leadership in higher education management structures.
· Associate Professor:
- A PhD (NQF level 10) with a research master’s- (NQF level 9), honours (NQF level 8) and undergraduate (NQF level 7) qualifications in Business or Marketing management.
- A minimum of 5 years of lecturing experience within a higher education institution.
- Completed Master’s supervision and involvement in PhD supervision.
- An increased number of high-quality articles in accredited and preferably high-impact journals.
- Proven record of national and international relations with academics and higher education institutions on research and/or teaching collaboration.
- Proven record of leadership in higher education management structures
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Expert knowledge of the relevant field of business and marketing management.
· Knowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
· Demonstrable computer literacy and competence in the use of general word processing software programs (MS Office, e-mail and Internet) as well as qualitative/quantitative analysis programs (e.g., JASP, SPSS, MPLUS, R, AMOS, AtlasTi)
· Knowledge and competency of learning support in a learning management system (e.g. SAKAI, Moodle, Blackboard).

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
