Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To lead a national research project on continuous professional learning at public higher education institutions in South Africa.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct benchmark study on national and international universities with CPL policies, frameworks and programmes.
· Mapping of all CPL programmes across the 26 public universities and other organisations focused on CPL in higher education.
· Design and document the CPL Framework.
· Collaborate with participating institution. Collate, review, and add changes to the Framework documentation.
· Engage and collaborate with all identified stakeholders.
· Report writing
· Manage project research activities and ensure that the national project meets all the objectives.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·         A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in any field of study.

EXPERIENCE:
·         A minimum of 3 years’ research experience in higher education.
· Proven experience in multiple data collection and analysis techniques and have an exceptional knowledge of statistical computer. They are also excellent communicators and can work effectively within teams (This needs to be clearly indicated in the application)
·         A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an online environment.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
·         A minimum of 3 years’ experience in conducting research in higher education.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Advanced research skill in both qualitative and quantitative research designs.
·         Advanced academic writing skills (report writing)
·         Advanced communication skills
·         Knowledge and experience of the Higher education environment
·         Planning and organising skills
·         Facilitation skills

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
·         Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
·         Client and team oriented
· Attention to detail, and accuracy in data handling

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
