NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) DIVISION: FINANCE AND FACILITIES DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES POSITION NUMBER: P000196 VACANCY: FINANCIAL ASSISTANT PEROMNES GRADE: P13 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Facilitate student accounts and bursary related inquiries, assess credit pay out applications and office administration and cashier for the Potchefstroom campus.
Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Office Administration
·       Administer corrections and levies on student accounts, transfer of funds, check system and account issues.
·       Administration for bursary students.
·       Accurate record keeping.
·       Handling of general inquiries.
·       Assist registered and prospective students with quotations.
Cashier Functions
·       Receive cash and credit card payments and issue receipts.
·       Capture receipts for sundry debtors and other income.
·        Daily balancing, reporting, and banking of cash.
Credit refunds
·       Asses electronic credit applications.
·       Check pay-out report for transactions on request status.
·       Handling of manual credit applications and compiling of list.
·       Capture manual credit applications for pay-out.
Ad Hoc tasks
·       Assisting with ad hoc tasks as requested by line manager.
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
·       Communicate with internal and external stakeholders (contractors, professional consultants, Department of Labour etc.) to ensure everybody knows about the statutory requirements and assist with standardization of work, products and records.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Accuracy.
·       Computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook).
·       Problem solving skills.
·       Numerical skills.
·       Be able to work under pressure.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Must be able to function independently and as part of a team.
·       Must demonstrate professional experience in customer services and communication.
·       Organizational capability and multicultural customer service mindset.


Minimum requirements

·       Grade 12 (NQF level 4), with maths or accounting as subject.
·       A minimum of 2 years’ Financial or Accounting experience
·       A minimum of 2 tears’ experience working in a client service environment.


REMUNERATION:
 
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
