Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Handling the finances and administration for Financial Planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Administration and Support:

  • Provide comprehensive financial administration and support to the research and innovation environment. Which includes procurement, orders, payments, bursary and petty cash management. As well as Asset Management.

Financial Month – end Control and Monitoring:

  • Ensure effective financial control and monitoring within the research and innovation environment by overseeing month-end processes. This includes validating transactions, reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and preparing accurate financial reports to support decision-making and maintain fiscal integrity.

Research and Innovation Environment Support:

  • Provide administrative and operational support to enhance the research and innovation environment. Responsibilities include assisting with project coordination, maintaining compliance with funding and institutional requirements, managing documentation, and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders to promote successful research initiatives.

Project Administration Support:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support for research and innovation projects under the Deputy Dean's portfolio. Responsibilities include coordinating project documentation, managing budgets, tracking deliverables, ensuring compliance with institutional and funding requirements, and facilitating communication among stakeholders to ensure the efficient execution of research initiatives.

Admin Support to Deputy Dean Research and Innovation:

  • Deliver efficient administrative support to the Deputy Dean by managing schedules, coordinating meetings, preparing documentation, maintaining records, and facilitating communication. Ensure smooth operation of the research and innovation portfolio by supporting compliance, monitoring project timelines, and assisting with reporting and correspondence.

Minimum requirements

  • A diploma in Financial Management or Administration (NQF level 6).
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working on the Kuali financial system and NWU administrative systems.
     KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Finance – Kuali system.
  • Administration - NWU system.
  • Office package – Word, Excel, Outlook.

 BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Good interpersonal relation with staff, students and outside companies.
  • Work under pressure.
  • Accurate financial handling processes.
 REMUNERATION
