Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching and Learning:
- The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, online learning, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
- Initiation and development of subject material.
2. Development and supervision:
§ The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
§ Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students, engage in course work.
3. Research:
- Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
- The conduct of research.
- Involvement in professional activity.
4. Development of course materials:
- Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior employees.
- Marking and assessments.
- Consultation with students.
Minimum requirements
· Lecturer:
- A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Risk Management.
- A minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience at a tertiary institution.
- Postgraduate supervision experience required.
· Senior Lecturer:
- A PhD (NQF level 10) in Risk Management.
- A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience at a tertiary institution.
- Postgraduate supervision experience required.
- A proven research track record.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and Power point), email and internet.
· Required knowledge of quantitative risk analysis.
· Knowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
· A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students educational environment and wellbeing.
· Knowledge of modern platforms (eg. Whiteboard technology, online learning, eFundi, etc) to enhance the ongoing changing of the learning and collaboration environment.
· Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environment of the NWU.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
