Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The purpose of the role is to facilitate the expansion and implementation of work integrated learning (WIL) programmes and the formalisation of service-learning activities that closely associate with the academic project within the NWU. The incumbent will advise faculties from an educational and operational perspective on matters related to participation in WISL initiatives, oversee the implementation of the various faculty projects from inception to completion, manage the budget and financial aspects of the Centralised WISL Office, advise faculties on budgeting for faculty-based WISL projects and to liaise with and manage relationships with Student Academic Life-cycle Administration, Faculties and its WISL coordinators, IT, CTL and other internal and external service providers that form part of the learning programmes’ delivery model. The incumbent will conduct Quality Assurance, to ensure that quality standards are maintained on the funded programmes. The incumbent will liaise with national and international networks on WISL matters, conduct ongoing environmental scanning and recommend the development of new projects; provide input to the continuous improvement of the WISL system, existing projects and the supply & demand information to the relevant stakeholders. To satisfy all compliance related activities of the WISL programme, such as performance reporting; audit requests requirements; performance validation process by DHET and ensuring that the information required is readily available at the time of audit and validation. The WISL Adviser will continue with the groundwork done during the initial phase of the WISL Project and communicate the developmental aims of the WIL and SL (WISL) System and to determine the generic and specific needs of the faculties and schools to sustain such a system on an ongoing basis. The role will be performed within the context of the centralised electronic administrative and management WISL System of the NWU to alleviate the workload and speed up processes for placement, monitoring, assessment, and reporting of WIL and SL activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate and innovate concerning the initiation, conceptualization, and expansion of WISL at the NWU.
2. Initiation, investigation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Work Integrated Service Learning (WISL) life-cycle projects at the NWU.
3. Engage with stakeholders of the WISL system at the NWU.
4. Implement and evaluate the WISL system.
5. Ad-hoc projects as determined by the Director of CTLF.

Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· A 4 year bachelor’s degree or an Honours degree (NQF level 8) in Education.
· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Higher Education environment, preferably within a blended learning environment.
· A minimum of 1-year proven track record with management of projects.
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a work integrated and service-learning support environment.
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the design and development support of WISL services that meet the requirements of WISL placement in decentralised facilities.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
· A Masters’ degree (NQF level 9) in Education.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· In-depth knowledge of work integrated and service-learning systems and implementation.
· Computer literate in MS Office.
· Proficiency in at least two official languages.

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
