Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To teach undergraduate modules in higher education, and supervising ERTP and Master’s students, participate in the study guide and study material development, conduct own research, initiate, and plan research projects and provide support to staff in the research entity, as well as being involved in community engagement programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research
  • Scholarly guidance, innovation and initiation regarding research in Curriculum Studies.
Teaching
  • Teaching modules in Curriculum Studies and related fields and providing supervision to ERTP and Master students.
Community Engagement
  • Initiating research projects and involvement in community engagement programmes.

Minimum requirements

  • A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Curriculum Studies.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in a school environment.
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
  • A PhD (NQF level 10) in Curriculum Studies.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in a higher education environment.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of Curriculum studies in a school context.
  • Postgraduate supervision – preferable.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Team worker.
  • Good interpersonal relations.
 
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
