Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Specialist Integrator to develop and implement cost-effective data and integration solutions within a complex and interconnected business solution ecosystem. This role involves crafting high-quality logical and physical designs optimized to meet the operational performance requirements of multiple solutions and products.

The ideal candidate will leverage industry best practices, sound architecture principles, and established standards and procedures to deliver integrated systems.  As a key collaborator, the Specialist Integrator will work closely with business stakeholders, development leads, and architects to design data integration solutions that transform raw data into valuable information and actionable insights, ultimately supporting and driving key business processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analysis and Design:

  • Design and implement data integration solutions that align with business needs and operational goals.
  • Analise business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable designs to develop and deploy effective integration packages. 
  • Investigate and recommend demand forecast for integration services. 
  • Evaluate and recommend new technology opportunities and best practices that will impact solution integration and data transformation.

Integration Development:

  • Create logical and physical architecture designs to optimize system performance across multiple products and solutions.
  • Apply industry best practices and standards to ensure scalable, efficient, and secure integration processes.
  • Analise data to discover patterns, meaningful relationships, and trends.
  • Perform data conversions, imports, and exports of data within and between internal and external systems.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, developers and architects, to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Track and report on integration issues in a timely manner.
  • Guide and mentor, the technical team, improving technical awareness, depth and use of integration and data transforming technology across the business.

Projects:

  • Serve as project team member for projects of medium to large scope and high complexity, performing integration and data activities according to approved methodologies, tools, and standards. 
  • Collaborate and function as a team member building relationship across multi business areas.

Documentation:

  • Produce comprehensive and applicable technical documentation throughout the lifecycle addressing development protocols, technical specification, design, standards and ensuring that these are kept up to date.
  • Conduct post implementation reviews.

Quality Assurance:

  • Provide data that is accurate, congruent, and reliable. 
  • Establish acceptance criteria and effective testing plans and methods to satisfy data quality and auditability of any solution implemented. 
  • Provide input to the development of data/information quality metrics. 
  • Conduct reviews ensuring quality according to approved requirements, standards, and methodologies.

Testing:

  • Perform effective end-to-end integration testing ensuring the implemented solutions meets the business requirements, satisfy data quality, and auditability.
  • Establish acceptance criteria for integration and performance tests and validate test results during the test cycle. 
  • Communicates test results to business stakeholders and development team.
  • Monitor integration activities after implementation and communicate any discrepancies.

Support:

  • Track, monitor and analyse integration performance and production issues.
  • Troubleshoot, debug reported data loads or reconcile inconsistencies and adjust data models and/or reports. 
  • Ensure sustainability and stability to the production environments. 

Minimum requirements

  • Completed degree (NQF Level 7) in Information technology or a Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology
  • Experience in managing data lineage, data modelling and integration development.
  • At least five years' recent experience with all aspects of solution development (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, development, implementation/deploy, testing, and documentation), integration and implementation at an advanced level.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience using industry standards and best practice in solution architecture and design.

RECOMMENDATION:

  • Java certification or other relevant certification.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge of web service/ API technologies such as SOAP and REST.
  • Advance SQL including query tuning.
  • Development technologies such as Java(preferable), Vaadin, MS Power apps, RPA.
  • Strong knowledge of different databases such as Oracle, MYSQL and Microsoft SQL.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Service Orientate Architecture (SOA) and Event Driven Architecture (KAFKA).
  • Experience in deliver of large scale and complex solutions.
  • Experience in the identification of data quality, migration and techniques to perform data analysis.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to understand business concepts and evaluate impact of business changes on systems.
  • Experience of implementing application security standards.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology, Confluence and Jira.
