PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Clinical grant funds the position. Due to the limited amount of Biokinetics Preceptors available, there is a struggle to find good-quality preceptors. The preceptor is responsible for work integrated learning experience for our biokinetic students. The aim of this position is to ensure that all students are exposed to the Biokinetics scope of practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching and learning.
- Administration.
- Community engagement.
Minimum requirements
- A Bachelor of Health Sciences degree or an honours degree (NQF level 7/8) in Biokinetics.
- Professional registration with the HPCSA as independent practitioner.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of two (2) years’ work integrated learning experience as an independent Clinical Accompanist.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
- Accreditation with Basic Life Support.
- Professional membership with BASA (Biokinetics Association of South Africa).
- A minimum of two (2) years’ practical experience as an independent practitioner in Biokinetics.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Expertise in setting up clinical rotation schedules.
- Expert knowledge of the scope of the profession of Biokinetics and the ethical requirements for professional conduct and practice.
- Good problem-solving skills in the key performance areas.
- General computer literacy (Windows MS Office, Excel, use of e-mail and internet) with additional knowledge of databases.
- High standard of interpersonal and communication skills (including appropriate language skills to function in the multilingual
- NWU environment) and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent people and conflict resolution skills.
- Time management skills to work independently (on their own and without supervision).
- People-oriented approach evident in working in groups and with colleagues.
- Demonstrate initiative, leadership and organisation skills.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
