PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Appointing a Lecturer/Snr Lecturer to contribute towards undergraduate and post graduate teaching, practice supervision of students and research supervision of post graduate students in the subject group Psychology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching and learning, including higher degree supervision.
- Research and innovation.
- Social responsiveness and industry involvement.
- Academic leadership, management, and administration.
Minimum requirements
Lecturer
- A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) specialising in Clinical/Counselling Psychology.
- Registered as Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ generic Clinical/Counselling Psychology experience in direct practice and/or Clinical Psychology supervisory/ managerial level.
Senior Lecturer
- A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) specialising in Clinical/Counselling Psychology.
- Registered as Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ research and innovation experience in stable publication record and supervision of post graduate students towards graduation.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ generic Clinical/Counselling Psychology experience in direct practice and/or Clinical Psychology supervisory/ managerial level.
RECOMMENDATION:
- A PhD (NQF level 10) specialising in Clinical/Counselling Psychology.
- A minimum of one (1) year teaching and learning experience in blended contact sessions with university students on Lecturer level.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ teaching and learning experience in blended contact sessions with university students on Senior Lecturer level.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability and experience to work from an evidence-based approach in Psychology.
- Excellent communication skills (verbally and written).
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft office, e-mails, power point, software for data analysis).
- Ability to use e-media for teaching, studying and communication.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- The ability to work well independently as well as in a team.
- Good time management and ability to work well under pressure.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
