Job description

  • JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Research
o   Scholarly guidance, focused high-level research on Work integrated learning (WIL) that informs the teaching and learning scholarship of teaching practice, mentoring of colleagues. Initiating and leading research projects focused on bridging the research to practice gap.
 
2.    Teaching and Supervision
o   Postgraduate supervision and teaching WIL modules

3.    Community Engagement
o Involvement in community engagement programmes especially with a focus on WIL

Minimum requirements

·         Qualification:
o   PhD in an Education discipline related to Work integrated learning

·         Experience:
o   5 years’ experience previously employed in the field of higher Education (Faculty of Education)
o   Be in possession of a doctorate in an appropriate field of study in Education related to Work integrated learning
o   Author/co-author of research articles in accredited journals
o   Supervised Masters or doctoral students to completion
o   Research skills, interpersonal skills/communication and computer literacy

ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
·         Experience in Work integrated learning
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
o   Have a proven publication record – especially over the last 5 years
o   Have a proven record of presenting/attending relevant national and international conferences
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
o   Team worker
o   Good Interpersonal Relations
o   High level of professional and ethical conduct.
o   Good analytical abilities and innovative thinking, as well as the ability to be self-driven.
o   Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environment f the NWU.
 
  
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
