Job description

Strategy development
  • Implement NWU Potchefstroom Campus Safety and Security
  • Implement and ensured adherence of vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics on daily basis for a unitary NWU Protection Services.
  • Communicated effectively with all stakeholders with regards to protection services through various mediums. Prepare and present formal and informal security briefings to members of the NW (Potch Campus)
  • Implement and ensured adherence on campus regulations.
  • Ensure adherence of standard operating procedures
  • Joint accountability with leadership team for the management effectiveness of the NWU Protection Services Security.
Crime information Management
  • Ensured that crime, incidents and information were disseminated to CCF
  • Implementation of the interpretation of crime threat analysis and the utilisation, interpreting and reporting thereof.
  • Managed that criminal profiles and field observations are established.
  • Ensured that crime information be recorded on CHASE, SAS, Analyst Notebook, information register and Property Register.
Crime Prevention and Operations
  • Support and team work to be given to Heads of CIIRS and Traffic and access control at all functions.
  • Ensure compliance in patrols and monitoring actions done by officers.
  • Service Partners must be visited to ensure compliance and report any defects.
  • Ensure that all administrative duties of the Control Room and Security were efficiently completed.
  • Ensure that all incidents reported are raised on Chase.
  • Ensure that resource management are done efficiently.
  • Ensure that all employees had clear work allocations and instructions.
  • Ensure that all administrative duties of the Control Room and Security were efficiently completed.
Security
  • Ensured that physical crime prevention measures are conducted within regulations and policy directives.
Training and development
  • Identify training needs and implemented remedial action for NWU (Potchefstroom Campus) Control Officers/Deputy Control Officers/Protection Officers and Control Room Operators.
  • Ensure that training of NWU staff in courses accredited with Psira and SASSETA in accordance with prescribed legal requirements.
  • Ensure training for external institutions and private persons to generate external funds for the NWU.
Special events and emergency services
  • Ensure the protection of university property and life against fire hazards and other safety risks.
  • Ensure, manage and coordinate the maintenance of firefighting and fire equipment.
  • Ensure the deployment of Special Events in accordance to relevant legislation
Disaster management
  • Implement allocated functions from the disaster management plan to ensure immediate response to relevant disasters.
  • Activated Head the Director as soon as disaster has been confirmed
  • Coordinated with internal and external stakeholders an incident response and management plan of catastrophic incidences
OHS
  • An ethic of care, accountability, responsibility, transparency, justice, honesty, trustworthiness/reliability, adhering to ethical principles and professional standards, and respect (people and the environment).
  • Must ensure that all safety and risk protocols are enforced / complied with by all members of PS-PC

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor degree/Advanced Diploma in Security Management;
  • Five years’ experience in Security, law enforcement , Protection services environment or Paramilitary;
  • Two years management experience
  • PSIRA Grade A; and
  • K53
