Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1.      TRANSPORTATION OF DOCUMENTS IN THE SCHOOL:
·       Transporting documents over campus
·       Handling of post book
·       Transporting of boxes to courier services
 
2.      NATIONAL AQUATIC BIOASSAY FACILITIES (NABF):
·       Assisting in the cleaning of the aquarium and tanks in the faculty
·       Cleaning of the filters in the tanks
·       Checking system salts
·       Assist in the carrying of heavy-duty equipment as well as the removal of bins and or waste from the aquarium.
 
3.      GENERAL LABORATORY HELP IN SCHOOL PRE AND POSTGRADUATE LABS
·       Assisting the Senior Laboratory Manager with general problem identified
 
4.      FIELDWORK ASSISTANCE
·       Providing general assistance in the field during excursions.
 
5.      AD HOC TASKS
·       Ad Hoc tasks as required


KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, email, internet) with accurate typing skills.
·       Excellent time management skills
·       Background in Zoology, Botany and Microbiology.
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Excellent communication skills
·         Bilingual (English / Afrikaans)
·         Ability to work effectively independently and in a team

Minimum requirements

·       Grade 12 (with Biology or Life Sciences as a subject).
·       Driver’s license is essential.
