NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (VANDERBIJLPARK CAMPUS) DIVISION: NWU FINANCES AND FACILITIES_PROTECTION SERVICES DEPARTMENT: PROTECTION SERVICES VACANCY: CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR (4 POSITIONS) PEROMNES NUMBER: 14 POSITION NUMBER: V002726, V002727, P001532 & P000134 APPOINTMENT TYPE: PERMANENT Purpose of the position: To effectively and efficiently maintain safety and security on the NWU Vanderbijlpark Campus.
Job description

1.     Communication and Stakeholder Relations
·       Communicate effectively with all stakeholders with regards to protection services through various mediums. Prepare and present formal and informal security briefings to members of the NWU (Vanderbijl Campus)
·       Assist and ensure compliance with the NWU Vanderbijl Campus safety and security regulations and standard operating procedures.
 
2.     Crime Information Management
·       Ensure that crime, incidents and information are captured on Chase, Property Register
·       Ensure that crime information received is reported to the Control Officer and necessary documents is completed.
 
3.     Operations
·       The daily delivery of effective communication in order to ensure a safe NWU Vanderbijl Campus community.
·       To act in the best safety and security interest of NWU Vanderbijl Campus Community.
·       Effective alarm management.
·       Ensure that key control is done efficiently.
·       Regular consistent radio and telephone communication.
·       Effective incident management.
·       Ensure that all faults and deviations reported are captured timeously.
 
4.     Security
·       Capturing deployment(s) of the outsourced security services on Chase
·       Constant surveillance on hotspots areas that have CCTV Coverage
 
5.     Disaster Management
·       Disaster management compliance, ensuring that there are immediate responses to relevant disasters
·       Internal and external stakeholder communication with reference to incident response management plans and catastrophic incidents
 
6.     Special events and Emergency Services
·       Execute special duties during events as and when required

Minimum requirements

·       Grade 12.
·       A PSIRA Grade C registration.
·       A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a control room operator within the security industry.
·       Computer literacy: MS word, Excel, and email program (advanced level)
 
Functional/Technical competencies (Knowledge and Skills):
·       Advanced Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Email Program).
·       Excellent written and verbal communication (by radio and telephone) skills to effectively function within a multicultural and multilingual environment.
·       Ability to work according to planning schedules with measurable intermediate goals.
·       Complete and maintain an accurate pocketbook and incident documentation.

·       Excellent communication skills, Interpersonal skills, Customer service orientated and Excellent time management skills
·       The proven ability to work with precision under pressure Excellent judgement skills
