To execute HR core processes, maintain healthy people relations on campus and develop effective working relationships with staff, management and unions. .
Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

HR Process execution
  • Support, execute and monitor HR processes on campus aligned to overall People and Culture strategy.
  • Work closely with People and Culture unit and managers in faculties and support units on campus to ensure cohesive and coordinated services on campus.
  • Execute HR value chain and core processes from talent management, to reward and recognition, performance management, culture and transformation to wellness.
  • Support the COEs with excellent customer service and speed of execution.
  • Consult and advise managers and staff on various day-to-day HR practices.
  • Monitor and ensure compliant HR practices
  • Coordinate and compile monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting aligned to strategic metrics including trend analysis and recommendations.

Employee relations
  • Implement and execute employee relations agenda and participate in ER matters up to CCMA.

HR Operations support.
  • Create and maintain position and organisation structures on Oracle as per the relevant policy.
  • Participate in budgeting and workforce planning processes and relevant committees and structures.
  • Responsible for workforce analytics – joint accountability
  • Compile a 5-year workforce plan for NWU and ensure headcount execution against plan – joint accountability
  • Execute exit procedures and termination administration for NWU, second and third follow-up interviews, placement and letters.

Recruitment, selection and placement.
  • Execute all recruitment, screening, selection, placement and on-boarding/induction on campus.
  • Compile internal/external advertisements, verify against policy and approve.
  • Conduct screening, shortlists and interviews.
  • Arrange psychometric assessments for shortlisted candidates – joint accountability
  • Compile offer letters.

Leave administration.
  • Execute all leave administration and inputs

Research.
  • Research – study/knowledge of Human Resources trends/developments, practices, procedures nationally and internationally.

Leadership.
  • Stakeholder relationship development and effectiveness.
  • Regulatory and statutory compliance and reporting.
  • Process and system utilisation and adherence
  • Personal effectiveness, wholeness and development
  • Values-based behaviour leadership and personal compliance

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource and related fields is essential.
  • Honours degree in Human resource management is desirable.
  • Five (5) Years human resource general operational experience is essential.
  • Knowledge and execution of HR operational system is desirable.
  • Membership with IPM and or South African Board for People Practises is desirable

  • In depth knowledge of HR business partner processes as it applies to the organisational context
  • Knowledge of talent management principles, practices, philosophies and procedures
  • Knowledge of general Human Resources principles, practices and procedures.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
