To make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional career relevant to the profession or discipline in terms of research and community engagement
Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.     Teaching-learning - Teaching-learning of Life Sciences on contact and distance mode of delivery (includes organisational and management tasks)
2.     Research - Furthering of own qualifications (if applicable). Involvement in general research (e.g., publishing in accredited journals, presenting papers at conferences, etc.).
3.     Community Engagement - Be involved or initiate community engagement projects
 
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·       PhD degree with specialisation in Life Science Education.
·       Initial teacher’s qualification with specialisation in Life sciences
·       Minimum of 4 years teaching experience in life sciences on Grade 12 level
 
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
·       At least 2 years’ experience/ functional knowledge of the higher education sector.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Fundamental Knowledge of Life Sciences and Life Science Education concepts to Life Sciences content and methodology modules for undergraduate B.Ed and Hons students;
·       Knowledge of dynamic teaching- learning technologies
·       Good computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
·       Use of blended learning environments, e.g. Internet and email
