Introduction
SENIOR POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP (HUMAN GENETICS/MOLECULAR BIOLOGY) Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences The Mitochondria Research Laboratory, North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa is seeking outstanding and motivated candidates to apply for a senior postdoctoral fellowship in Human Genetics or Molecular Biology. The fellow will join a dynamic group of scientists and clinicians investigating the genetic cause of neuromuscular disease in African populations, as part of the South African network of the International Centre for Genomic Medicine in Neuromuscular Disease (ICGNMD). The fellowship is renewable yearly, for up to 5 years
Job description

  • Contributing and producing research outputs within a team environment,
  • The expectations for this fellowship are publication productivity,
  • Co-supervision of post graduate students,
  • Grant proposal writing.

Minimum requirements

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
  • Applicants must have graduated within the last five years with a PhD degree in Human/ Medical Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field,
  • Two years’ experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow would be a preference.
  • Experience in human genetic disease research, gene editing, and bioinformatics would be key attributes.
  • With the ICGNMD study at an advanced stage, proof of a strong publication record would thus be an additional asset.
