This includes: Leading the space- and infrastructure investigation process at the NWU and providing progress reports to management; conducting space investigations; executing space management functions; and supervising and guiding staff in function.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Lead space and infrastructure investigations
·         Lead the space and infrastructure investigation process at the NWU up to approved Business Case phase.
·         Conduct infrastructure request investigations at the NWU to determine user requirement up to completed Business Case phase.
·         Conduct space request investigations to determine user requirements up to completed Business Case phase.
·         Provide progress reports to management.
2.    Space allocations
·         Oversee and execute all Space Allocations on campus according to space norms and processes.
3.    Move planning
·         Manage move planning on campus.
4.    Space charges
·         Ensure annual space charging based on space allocations and norms.
 
5.    Space norms, standards, and guidelines
·         Maintain Space Management Guidelines and NWU Space Norms and processes.
6.    Staff supervision
·         Lead and supervise staff.
       
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·         Honours Degree or bachelor’s degree (NQF 8) in Urban or Regional Planning or Built Environment or any related field.
·         Six  (6) years’ experience overall in the Planning or Built Environment field and three (3) years should be in a supervisory or management capacity. 
 
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
·         Two (2) to three (3) years’ operational experience in Space Management.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Understanding of requirements for infrastructure and space and ability to translate them into Business Cases.
·         Space planning knowledge and skills.
·         Ability to draw basic building lay-outs based on user requirements.
·         Knowledge of space management principles.
·         Computer literacy: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
·         Knowledge and skills in using the CAD software,
·         Ability to compile basic cost estimates.
·         Knowledge in drafting processes and documents.
