NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) FACULTY/ DIVISION: DVC TEACHING AND LEARNING DEPARTMENT: CENTRE FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING SUB DEPARTMENT: CENTRALISED TEACHING AND LEARNING FUNCTIONS POSITION NUMBER: NEW VACANCY: SENIOR MANAGER: TEACHING AND LEARNING VENUE TRANSFORMATION PEROMNES GRADE: P6 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: TWO YEAR CONTRACT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION As part of a dynamic team responsible for delivering transformation of teaching and learning venues across the NWU, you will work with leaders and teams across the NWU to develop and deliver the program that will improve and transform teaching and learning venues to best serve our staff’s teaching needs and students’ learning needs. Candidate profile: A dynamic, possibly soon to, or recently retired senior academic, or senior support staff manager with sound knowledge and experience of the HE T&L setting, and a vision and drive to lead the transformation of the T&L facilities to embrace the HyFlex T&L demands of a post-pandemic institution and enhance the NWU T&L Strategy.
Job description

1.    Planning
·        Develop, define, and operational planning of the program to transform teaching and learning venues across the NWU, as identified.
2.    Organising
·        Identifying internal and External stakeholders.
·        Pro-actively engage with internal and external stakeholders. Build trust and buy-in to establish positive relationships with colleagues across the NWU.
·        Maintain effective stakeholder communication and engagement throughout the project.
3.    Leading and Coordination
·         
·        Prepare documentation and meetings to communicate project expectations and outcomes.
·        Align the processes and coordination within and between strategic stakeholders to ensure effectiveness (Centre for T&L, IT, Facilities and others).
·        Lead Project Team meetings, support and facilitate the participation of project team members in different parts of the program.
·        Coach, encourage and hold people to account for delivering their responsibilities within program
4.    Monitor and Evaluation
·        Undertake evaluations/reviews of existing ways of working to identify risks in program and solutions.
·        Track progress against plan and maintain live project documentation such as project plans and change controls.
·        Prepare papers, presentations and reports to support project expectations and outcomes
·        Devise and implement benefits realisation and reporting tools to allow regular reporting.
 
5.    Change Management
·        Participate in the development of the Change Team and model the improvement behaviours we are seeking to develop
·        Provide support and advice to colleagues in the change team from time to time to ensure achievement of change team objectives.
·        Research and benchmark best practice to inform improvement and change at NWU, seek new ideas from inside and outside the industries and identify innovative solutions
 
6.    Financial Management
·        Create and control an annual operational budget and provide monthly feedback to ensure the expenditure are in-line with financial targets and objectives.
 

Minimum requirements

·        Applicable Post Graduate qualification in Project Management (NQF Level 6)
·        Masters’ Degree in either Education Technology, Instructional Design, IT, Industrial Engineering, or other related field (NQF Level 9).
 
EXPERIENCE:
·        10 years’ experience in Higher Education
·        10 years’ experience in Management Skills
·        10 years’ experience in High Level Communication Skills

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
