NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) DIVISION: DVC: TEACHING AND LEARNING DEPARTMENT: NWU CAREER CENTER VACANCY: INFORMATION OFFICER PEROMNES GRADE: P11 POSITION NUMBER: N000696 PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To source, keep and disseminate information to support the strategic direction of the Career Centre (CC) to implement the employability Strategy and promote the career prospects of NWU graduates.
Job description

1.    Sourcing of information:
·        Identifying (searching), assessing, selecting and ordering relevant information sources and materials in both hard copy and electronic formats;
·        Planning and designing of the website of the Career centre annually (update and maintain continuously)
·        Collecting, collating and presenting statistical data for evaluation of the CC.

2.    Promotions and Marketing Information:

·        Coordinate and collate information related to the design of online promotions and social media campaigns
·        Collate information related to Adhoc publications i.e. Newsletter
·        Coordinate career centre information related to social media
·        Marketing, advertising and publicising the service and materials of the NWU Career centre
 
3.    Coordination of career centre information:

·        Answering information enquiries and providing information support to students and work colleagues
·        Planning and giving presentations and information unit tours
·        Writing reports and publications;
·         Liaising with other information providers to disseminate information i.e. GDS and Universum surveys;
·         Providing training for information and support staff on all three campuses.
·         Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to collate & compile adverts and articles related to the publication of annual NWU Career Guide Publication 
 
 
4.    Career Service Management System:
·        Coordination of information to update and maintain the smooth function of career service management portal
 
5.    Record Keeping and Databases:

·        Compile career centre related information database
·        Organising, classifying, maintaining and storing information, often using computer applications for access and retrieval.
·         Ensure record of all career centre related IP
 
6.    Other comparable duties as defined by the Manager Career Centre:

Attend to Adhoc information related request from Manage
 

Minimum requirements

 Grade 12 or equivalent
·        NQF Level National Diploma related to Information Management or equivalent
·        3 – 5 years related experience
 
Functional/Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills):

·        Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
·        Good organisational skills and excellent telephone etiquette.
·        Be familiar with the systems and procedures at the University.
·        The ability to take own initiative in problem solving.
·        Good time management skills.
·        The ability to liaise on different levels internally (staff and students) and externally (visitors)
·        The ability to coordinate information and correspondence with varying stakeholders to achieve the mandate of the role
·        Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), GroupWise, Internet and Visio (or similar package).
 
The following will be desirable:
·        Relevant Information and or administrative experience related to information management
