Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.     Teaching and Learning
Teaching a variety of Afrikaans modules within a multi-modal delivery approach of teacher training programmes at under- and postgraduate level. Expertise and experience of teaching Afrikaans HL and FAL at school and/or a higher education institution are strong recommendation.
2.     Research
Writing and publishing of articles, presenting papers at conferences
3.     Community Engagement
Involvement with particular applicable community engagement in intermediate/senior/FET phases’ projects.
4.     Administration
Planning, organising and record keeping as part of office and subject (module) administration in accordance with faculty’s teaching policy and close collaboration with the subject group (meetings).
5.     Work Integrated Learning and Service Learning
 Active participation in order to operationalise the WIL programme at all levels.
       
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·       PhD in Afrikaans or Afrikaans for Education
·       Education professional qualification in Language teaching methodologies / didactics
·       1-2 years functional and subject related experience, preferably in the intermediate phase. Experience in the Senior/FET phase will also be considered at
Primary, Secondary and/or Higher Education

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Subject knowledge: Afrikaans HL and/or FAL
·       Teaching skills: Language Methodology and Didactics
