Job description
The purpose of the position is to capture, process and evaluate applications, facilitate the admission of applicants and attend to faculty inquiries within the Applications and Admissions Office on Vanderbijlpark Campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Processing Non-FTEN Applications
- Assist applicants at the Help Desk, telephonically or via e-mail with enquiries and finalize their online application
- Evaluating and finalizing applications and admissions as and when received, in terms of the relevant faculty requirements, and requirements in accordance to the enrolment plan.
- Liaison with staff within divisions relevant to admissions and applications environment, such as SAS, Faculty Administrators – to ensure compliance within the process of evaluation and admission.
2) Ad-hoc Directives
- Performing any ad hoc directives from the section head as may be required from time to time
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 (essential)
- 2 Years Previous experience in Applications and Admissions processes and systems at Tertiary institutions
- 2 Years Previous experience of working in a University Environment and knowledge of university processes
Functional & Technical competencies:
- In depth knowledge of the VSS System or another applications and admissions system utilized by other tertiary institutions
- Knowledge of application and admission processes in a tertiary environment
- Well versed in utilization of Microsoft Office Packages including Excel and Word
- Excellent knowledge of Statutory requirements pertaining to admissions and applications
- Language proficiency to function optimally in various multilingual environment for the NWU
Behavioural competencies:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be able to work as part of a team
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
