Teaching and learning:
Applicants should
  • Be able to teach different genres of Literature (Poetry, Drama, the Novel and Fiction) at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Have a record of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision.
  • Have experience in teaching and willing to teach Renaissance Literature, Modernism and Post-Modern Literature.
  • Have a good knowledge of African, World and Contemporary Literature

Minimum requirements

  • Phd in English Literature or relevant qualification
  • Teaching experience at university level (7 – 10 years)
  • Proven research record and publications in Literature or related fields
  • Proven track record of supervising Masters and/or PhD students in Literature or related fields
  • Work effectively as part of a team and relate well with colleagues and peers

Recommended competencies:
  • Proven publication records in peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervision and teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Research interest in Literature or related fields
  • Support and mentor junior staff members

Community engagement:
  • Be actively involved in community engagement projects

  • Online facilitation of teaching-learning and blended learning
  • Facilitation of teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Develop courses/modules in Literature
  • Conduct independent research and exhibit a proven research record
  • Provide postgraduate supervision
  • Handle large undergraduate classes
  • Deal with administrative tasks when required
  • Computer literacy - Knowledge of Microsoft package
