Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To develop, implement and monitor environmental management procedures and processes across campuses in line with the approved Environmental Management Policy. Plan and conduct environmental management audits and develop action plans to improve compliance across campuses to ensure synergy.

Minimum requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental management equivalent to NQF level 7
  • 5 years managerial and/or supervisory experience
  • 5 years proven experience as an environmental officer/specialist/ manager
  • Professional registration with SACNASP
  • Proof of membership with IAIA/SAIOSHP
  • A valid driver’s license
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management System
  • Supervisory experience and management of environmental teams
  • Implementation of the environmental system
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, email, and the internet
  • Compile OHS budgets and cost estimates
  • Excellent writing, communication, and report writing skills
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure that resources are available and allocated
  • Manage relationships with clients and stakeholders

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB DESCRIPTION 
1.    Develop and implement Environmental Management System(s).
2.    Prepare and update annual audit plans, incident reports, and inspection plans.
3.    Prepare monthly management reports, indicating deviations in respect of project schedules and budgets.
4.    Manage and oversee projects within the department and form part of professional teams from stage 1 to stage 6.
5.    Ensure that all environmental regulations/compliance are adhered to on all the campuses. 
6.    Ensure proper record management and emergency preparedness
7.    Prepare environment management report and ensure that administration is up to date.
