Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Provide analytical support to researchers, postgraduate students, and external clients on the equipment available in the laboratory for analytical services and electron microscopy 
·         Provide analytical maintenance support on instruments available in the CRB
·         Provide Occupational Health and Safety support in the research entity
·         Managing the special gas installation of the research entity
·         Community engagement: in both social and academic communities

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
·       MSc or MTech in Analytical chemistry or related chemistry field
·       Member of the SA Chemical Institute and other scientific bodies (Desirable)
·       2 years’ experience in Instrumental analytical laboratory
·       2 years’ experience no the following instruments, GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV, NMR Microscopy, hyphenated techniques

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
·       Excellent managerial skills
·       Good organisational skills
·       Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Groupwise and Internet)
·       Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
