Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Teaching and Learning
·        Develop study material, facilitate contact sessions, internal and external moderation, and assessments.
2.    Research
·        Supervision of post graduate students.
·        Internal and external examination of post graduate research dissertations and/or theses.
·        Participation in the applicable research entity and publication of scholarly articles.  

Minimum requirements

Qualifications:
 
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:
·        PhD in Psychology

SENIOR LECTURER:
·        MA/MSc in Clinical /Counselling / Research Psychology

Experience/s:
Associate Professor:
·        Registration as Counselling / Clinical / Research Psychologist with the HPCSA
·        5 years’ experience as independent practitioner in one of the registration categories
·        3 years’ experience in teaching university students on under or post Graduate levels
·        At least one publication per year in accredited scholarly journals in the previous 5 years
·        Previous experience of supervising M students towards completion; and preferably supervising students on Doctoral level.
 
Senior Lecturer:
·        Registration as Counselling / Clinical / Research Psychologist with the HPCSA.
·        3 years’ experience as independent practitioner in one of the registration categories
·        1 year experience in teaching university students on under or post graduate levels
·        In process of supervising a student on M level
·        At least 2 publications in accredited scholarly journals
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·        Leadership Skills
·        Good communication skills
·        Computer Literacy
·        Fluency in English and the ability to work in the multilingual environment of the North-West University
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·        Ability to use e-media for teaching, studying and communication
·        The ability to work well independently, as well as in a team.
·        Good time management and the ability to work well under pressure.The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
