NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF EDUCATION ECONOMIC AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCE IN EDUCATION VACANCY: SENIOR LECTURER PEROMNES A7, POSITION NUMBER: P001522 PERMANENT APPOINTMENT AT Potchefstroom campus Purpose of the position: The Senior lecturer will make significant contributions to the teaching and learning area of both undergraduate and postgraduate Economic and Management Sciences programs at the Potchefstroom Campus. The staff member will teach Accounting education, modules and assist in the supervision of post-graduate students. The Senior lecturer will also contribute to the research activities in the faculty
Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Partake lecturing in under and postgraduate in any of the fields: Accounting in Education, Contribute to the development of curricula that will support the Programme Qualification Mix (PQM) of the Economic and Management Sciences in Education subject group and updating the curriculum requirements for various degrees within the university and faculty’s teaching and learning strategy
  • Clear evidence of strength in teaching and learning in a blended environment and research and innovation activity.
  • Knowledge, skills and practical experience in the field of Accounting Education, Economics Education, Business Education or Economics and Management Sciences Education
  • Quality assurance of teaching material by adhering to quality standards regarding the design, content and publishing requirements for NWU teaching and learning policies
  • Contribute to the developing of new under and post graduate level degrees, diplomas and certificates as well as short learning programs in Commerce in Education
  • Knowledge and competence of integrating ICT platforms in teaching and learning, evaluate and assist course material of colleagues to be improved
  • Supervision experience at Masters’ and Doctoral level (completed students
  • A proven research track record in accredited journals and conference proceedings         
  • Voluntarily participate in curriculum related community engagement with the view of achieving the School’s objectives in relations to the Faculty’s and university’s overall mission and mission
  • Embraces engaged scholarship involving academic staff, civic engagement involving students’ community service, and professional engagement involving staff using their professional expertise.
  • Execute activities by which discipline-based skills and knowledge are made relevant to the community.
  • Expertise and competencies to offer mentoring to students and colleagues.

Minimum requirements

  • PhD in Economic Management Sciences in Education or anything related Commerce in Education
  • Appropriate teaching qualification (PGCE or Bed in Accounting Education)
  • Five years’ teaching experience at high school and tertiary level
  • A minimum of two research publications in accredited journal.
 
 Other competency requirements:
  • Proven completion of supervision for Masters and involvement in supervision of PhD
  • Have a proven and comprehensive teaching and research experience in higher education
  • Effective teaching and assessment practice
  • Use of online platforms, teaching-learning technologies;
  • Local and international conference presentation in the relevant discipline and teaching and learning
  • Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
