PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This is an academic position on the Mafikeng campus within the Coaching science program. The Lecturer will perform Teaching and Learning, Research and Community engagement activities.
Job description
1. TEACHING-LEARNING:
• Provide T&L to undergraduate students and later to post graduate students as the new degree is phased in
2. RESEARCH:
• Self-initiated research supervision and collaboration in research projects.
3. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
• Community engagement through implementation of expertise
Minimum requirements
• Master’s degree (Lecturer) in Sports Science / Human Movement Science / Coaching Science / Biokinetics is essential.
• Honours degree (Junior Lecturer) in Sports Science / Human Movement Science / Coaching Science / Biokinetics is essential.
• Registration with HPCSA, BASA, ISAK is desirable.
EXPERIENCE/S:
• 1 – 3 years online teaching in university context / Formal education settings specialising in Anatomy, motor learning, sports injuries and kinanthropometry
• 1 – 3 years in research processes conducting research, data collection, analyses and reporting of research.
KEY FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
• Experience and knowledge in Sport- or Human Movement Science or Coaching Science as well as facilitation skills
• Experience and applied knowledge in Anatomy, Motor learning, Sports injuries and Kinanthropometry
• Application of research knowledge and evidence of involvement in research projects within the field of Sport, Exercise or Coaching Science.
• Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), emails, the internet, and electronic diaries.
• Experience of a LMS system will serve as an advantage
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to act independently and cooperatively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Ability to function independently, autonomously, systematically, accurately and the ability to perform problem-solving
• Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
• The ability to build and maintain sound interpersonal relations and function effectively as part of a team
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
