Job description
- Running of solid-state drug analysis equipment (and related instruments) and providing support to all Pharmacen™ researchers and students thereof.
- Assistance with the development and validation of analytical methods for all post-graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and researchers within Pharmacen™.
- Supervision of postgraduate students in the Pharmacen™ sub-programmes.
- Research and establishment of research programmes in the Pharmacen™ sub-programmes.
- Writing of scientific publications on own research and on available data.
- Innovation and development work.
- Provide support on management of research programmes

Minimum requirements
- PhD in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Chemistry or related disciples (NQF10).
- Ability to operate and experience in X-ray powder diffractometry (XRPD), Infra-red spectroscopy (IR), Thermal analysis (TAM 111, DSC, DTG, Thermal microscope), VTi (sorption analyser), Kruss droplet analyser, Nano spray drier, UV and HPLC, particle size analysis, dissolution and solubility. Calibration and maintenance of instruments where needed. Interpretation of results and compiling reports.
- Approximately 3 years’ experience in pharmaceutical analysis and the conducting of Pharmaceutical Sciences related research.
- Approximately 2 years’ experience in guidance to postgraduate students.
Recommended: Registration with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist is recommended.
