PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Secretary to attend to administrative work and legal work done by the Law Clinic
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB DESCRIPTION
1.Respond to enquiries in a timely and friendly manner
2.Opening and closing client files & filing
3.Prepare visitors log
4.Receive and distribute incoming mail efficiently
5.Maintain switchboard
6.Type correspondence and pleadings in accordance with prescribed templates for students
7.General office administration
8.Manage reception area
9.Distribute internal communications
10.Assist students and candidate in making calls
11.Maintain Asset register
Minimum requirements
- Matric Certificate (NSC) is essential for this position
- A Secretarial qualification is desirable for this specific position
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year office administration experience is desirable for this position
- 1 year filing of documentation/record keeping experience is desirable
- 1 year experience in typing legal documents is desirable for this position
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing and managing of files and records.
- Computer literacy in MS Word and Office, as well as the use of email and internet
- Be able to operate all applicable office equipment and systems
- Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
- Knowledge of KFS

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
