Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate level Information System.
· Research in the area of expertise and publish research in accredited conference proceedings and journals.
· Participate in community service/expertise.
· Service in professional bodies as reviewer, editor, other committees etc.
· Course development and curriculum.
· Prepare and conduct student assessments in specific modules.
Administrative duties related to the School’s activities and academic programmes
Minimum requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
· PhD in Information Systems/Computer Science/Information Technology.
· Appropriate membership in the field of study is recommended.
EXPERIENCE
· Senior Lecturer: Five years’ industry/teaching experience plus a minimum of two research publications in accredited journal. Conference proceedings will be an added advantage as well as postgraduate supervision.
· Associate Professor: Five years’ industry/teaching experience plus a minimum of four research publications in accredited journal and proof of M or D postgraduate supervision. Conference proceedings will be an added advantage.
· Professor: Eight years’ industry/teaching experience plus a minimum of eight research publications in accredited journal and proof of M or D postgraduate supervision. Conference proceedings will be an added advantage.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:
Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
· Must have an in-depth information Systems theory and its application
· Apply to teach basic information Systems modules
· Knowledge of information Systems management theories
· Ability to supervise research students at honours, masters and PhD levels
· Ability to conduct basic and applied research in the field of Information Systems
Behavioural Competencies
· Communication skills/ lecturing and people management skills
· Interpersonal skills
· Be able to work in a team
· Demonstration of multi-language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual
· environments of the NWU
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
