Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
 The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the timely handling and payment of invoices in order to ensure the fluent and effective operation of administrative tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for payment of invoices, receiving and check-in of stock on KFS system.
  • Handling of payments in regards to internal functions and quotations.
  • Handle and monitor petty cash payments.
  • Ensure that purchases and payments are made according to policies and procedures. 
  • Liaison with students, clients and suppliers.
  • Development of the own person and staying abreast of new technology.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12
  • 2 years office administration experience in a fast-paced environment
 KEY FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Good knowledge and application of MS Office (Excel essential)
  • Must be task-orientated, accurate and organized
  • Knowledge in the handling and daily payment of invoices
  • Experience in stock control and stock management
  • Knowledge of the NWU financial system will serve as a recommendation
 KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • The ability to work as part of a team and apply effective time management
  • The ability to identify and solve problems
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet target dates

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
