NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) FACULTY/ DIVISION: CHEMICAL RESOURCE BENEFICIATION POSITION NUMBER: P002245 VACANCY: SENIOR LECTURER PEROMNES GRADE: A7 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The main function of the position is the development of graduate attributes in research and writing at the postgraduate level (including to honours students in in the subject group Chemistry of the School for Physical and Chemical Sciences).
Job description


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Develop, present, monitor and assess graduate attributes in research and writing, at a postgraduate level through individual interaction and group workshops
·         Web-based marketing and post-graduate support within the research entity
·         Being a mentor and gatekeeper for post-doctoral fellows in the research entity
·         Coordinate, evaluate and manage ethics applications and research proposals
·         Other tasks at the research entity (organising entity colloquia)
 


Minimum requirements

·       PhD in Chemistry or any field in Chemistry
·       Member of the SA Chemical Institute and other scientific bodies (Desirable)
·       3 years’ experience in the development and presentation of research and writing support courses/workshops at postgraduate level
·       Publication track record in Chemistry and or related sciences
·       Administrative Ethics experience
·       1-year experience, post-doctoral fellowship
·       Community service/engagement experience

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
·       Excellent managerial skills
·       Good organisational skills
·       Excellent computer skills (expertise in Turnitin and Endnote)
·       Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
