NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY LOCATION: VANDERBIJLPARK CAMPUS DIVISION: FINANCE & FACILITIES DEPARTMENT: STUDENT FINANCES AND FINANCIAL RELATED SYSTEMS (SFFS) POSITION NUMBER: N002636 VACANCY: FINANCIAL OFFICER (Re-Advertisement) REPORTING TO: VC MANAGER STUDENT ACCOUNTS & BURSARIES PEROMNES GRADE: P11 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Back office assistance to Manager and sub-division of Student Accounts on Vanderbijlpark Campus with administration of NSFAS allowances and cash payments to students and landlords.
Job description

1)    Administration of Allowance (NSFAS and other cash awarding bursaries)
  • Compiling of allowance and landlord templates
  • Maintaining templates as students register / cancel / move accommodation
  • Compile secondary reports to update allowance and landlord templates
  • Control allowance charges on student accounts
  • Submit allowance payment files
 
2)    Reconciliations
  • Reconcile student totals before processing payments
  • Reconcile payments and payment control accounts
 
3)    Communication
  • Assist with communication to students via SMS messages and follow-up e-mails
 
4)    Management Reports
  • Assist with compiling management reports on request (graduation, handover, debt analysis)
 
5)    Records Management
  • Ensure department records management is implemented according to NWU standards. (Implement, monitor and guide)
 
6)    Ad Hoc
  • Assist with all reasonable and ad hoc tasks that might surface in the line of duty in the Student Accounts and Bursaries Department

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 (essential)
  • Diploma (NQF6) in Finance/or Accounting/or Economics or related qualification (Essential)
  • 3 years Proven Advanced Microsoft Office Excel experience (Essential))
  • 2 years Experience on payments and reconciliations (Essential)
