PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Specialist in Learning and Development is responsible for diagnosing, researching, designing, coordinate, evaluating and facilitating the implementation of Human Resource Development methods, programmes, policies, and procedures at NWU.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Training and development planning and coordination
· Training management and quality assurance
· Coaching and mentoring programs
· Skills development and study administration
· Leadership/ management development programs
· Training needs assessment and training evaluation
· Interaction with the SETA and training service providers
· Competency development and modelling
· Induction and in-house training and development interventions facilitation
· Training policy and strategy execution

Minimum requirements
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and related fields is essential (NQF 7)
Experiences
· 3 years’ experience as a Specialist in Relevant Industry is essential
· 3 years’ experience in Professional Leadership
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES
· 3 years’ experience in Higher education will be desirable
· ETDP Accreditation will be added advantage
· SABPP membership is desirable
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
· Organizational awareness
· Knowledge of HRD policy, procedures and discipline
· Extensive knowledge and practical application of relevant legislation impacting on learning and development (LRA, SDA, SLA, SAQA etc.)
· Coordinate skills development compliance and alignment with SDA, NQF, NSDS, HRDS-SA, ETDP SETA and other SETA's requirements
· Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who has the ability to be proactive
· Can act independently on own initiatives while simultaneously being a team player
· Ability to work well under pressure and act in a disciplined manner
· Has excellent planning, organizing and controlling skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
· Computer literacy and presentation skills
