Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- PhD in Physiology or an associated or relevant field (e.g. Biochemistry, Public Health, Epidemiology) is essential (NQF 10)
Experiences
- 5- 10 years’ experience in Research in the field of hypertension and cardiovascular disease is essential
- 5- 10 years’ experience in Supervision of postgraduate students at Hons, MHSc and PhD level is essential
- 5-10 years’ experience in Writing of funding applications is essential
- 5-10 years’ experience in Management of Research projects and related funding will be desirable
JOB DESCRIPTION
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOINT ACCOUNTABILITIES
Research publications
- Publish peer viewed articles, books, and book chapters recognised by Department of Higher Education and Training
Postgraduate Supervision
- Provide Supervision to postgraduate students of HART
Research funding and Collaborations
- Write national and international funding applications to secure research funding as well as maintain and establish national and international collaborations
Research Projects
- Lead (or participate in) research studies conducted by HART either in the Hypertension Research and Training Clinic or Research Laboratory
University service and Academic Administration
- Provide service to the University by contribution to applicable committees; Complete academic administrative tasks associated with research, postgraduate supervision, staff capacity and personal development
Social Responsiveness
- Participate in community engagements projects of HART such as May Measurement Month and Science communication to the community
