PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:Manage the Crop science laboratory and to meet requirements for teaching, learning and research for department and School of Agriculture. In addition, able to do other assigned functions from the School Director or Deputy Dean (T & L)
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Analysis of plant and soil samples
2. Laboratory management and planning
3. Financial management (Budgeting)
4. Participate in practical training (WIL)
5. Liaise with academics, students & community around university
Minimum requirements
• Bachelor of Sciences in Analytical Chemistry is essential
• Registration with the SACNASP is essential
• Membership with a professional society is desirable
EXPERIENCE:
• 1-3 years Technician experience is essential
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):
• Management plant and soil laboratory skills with 1-3 years’ experience
• Establishing standard operational procedures (SOPs)
• Knowledge of instrumentation

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
