PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The candidate will be responsible for lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate Mathematics or Applied Mathematics modules, and can also be expected to be involved in the development of new modules. Other duties include the supervision of postgraduate students.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is essential.
EXPERIENCE
· PROFESSOR
- 8-10 years teaching experience undergraduate and postgraduate is essential
- 8-10 years’ experience in research in Supervision of M&D students and a track record of research publications is essential
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
- 6-8 years teaching experience undergraduate and postgraduate is essential
- 6-8 years’ experience in research in Supervision of M&D students and a track record of research publications is essential
SENIOR LECTURER
- 3-5 years teaching experience undergraduate and postgraduate is essential
- Experience in postgraduate supervision
- 3-5 years’ experience Supervision of Honours and M&D students and a track record of research publications
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of Latex, Matlab, word & Excel
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Work independently, but also as a team.
- Have very good people skills.
- Professional and ethical behaviour.
- Be able to act as a mentor for junior staff.
Minimum requirements
1. Teaching & Learning
Presenting undergraduate & postgraduate modules. Development of new modules and updating of study guides.
2. Research and Innovation
Supervision of postgraduate students and the publication of research papers in accredited journals.
3. Organisational & management tasks
Assist with management tasks and also with Mentoring of junior staff members and involvement in university/faculty committees.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
