NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (VANDERBIJLPARK CAMPUS) FACULTY/ DIVISION: CENTRE FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING VACANCY: JUNIOR ACADEMIC DEVELOPER PEROMNES GRADE: P10 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To provide the necessary focused support and guidance to faculties to address critical strategic NWU Teaching and Learning goals. This includes the participation in the following activities: Curriculum renewal and transformation, TL and assessment strategies, Disciplinary literacies, Induction of newly appointed academics, academic professional development initiatives and the participation in scholarship of TL (SoTL) projects.
Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      SUPPORT INTERNAL ACADEMIC PROGRAMME EVALUTION PROCESSES COORDIINATION
  • Participate as part of a panel in Internal Programme Evaluations
  • Analyse outcomes of the IPE’s.
  • Attend the meetings involved IPE’s.
  • Give input during the whole IPE processes.
 
2.      CURRICULUM RENEWAL PROGRAMME MEMBER
  • Participate in the Research on Curriculum Renewal across disciplines.
  • Team member in the Curriculum Renewal Programme.

3. AD HOC
  •  Serve as member of the FACULTY TEACHING AND LEARNING SUPPORT DIRECTORATE leadership team in the Mahikeng Campus as determined by the Director.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Honors in the field of Education and/or Higher Education.
  • 1-3 years’ experience of working in a higher education context.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Support with the development and support of workshops and webinars
  • Knowledge and experience of the higher education context
  • Knowledge of Curriculum development in the higher education context
  • Research skills, administrative, coordinating and record keeping 
  • Report writing skills
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Good interpretation and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Ability to work under pressure
 
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
