JOB DESCRIPTION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching undergraduate modules.
2. Teaching and supervision at postgraduate level.
3. Research publications.
4. Study guide and material development.
5. Support of research entity.
6. Initiating research projects.
7.Involvement in community engagement programmes

Minimum requirements

• Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies or related field in Education
•   Active academic leadership in programme/module development and evaluation
•   Publications in Teaching and Learning-related journal articles (including the reviewing of articles); and/or published evaluated conference presentations in discipline-related scholarship of teaching and learning.
•   Completed supervision of Master’s degree students and completed promotion or co-promotion of Ph.D. students
•   Experience at Associate Professor level in higher education.
•   High-quality articles (general guideline: one or more per year) in accredited and preferably high-impact journal and/or an increased number of high-quality peer-reviewed creative outputs on recognised platforms or at established venues
•   Leadership and project management of important research and/or creative projects
•   Research collaborations and contracts (with the profession/industry, government, community, etc.)
•   Experience in teaching research modules

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

•   Extensive knowledge of the field of Curriculum Studies or related field in Education.
•   Expertise in one or more of the following fields: Human rights education and values, Higher education or Self-directed learning
•   Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery.
•   Computer proficient - command of Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

•   Good interpersonal relations.
•   The ability to work with large groups of people.
•   Ability to adhere to timelines and deadlines.
•   Good communication skills (verbal, written, and use of technology).
•   Ability to work independently, problem-solving, systematically, and innovative.
•   Ability to function effectively under pressure.
Language skills to function in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
