To ensure administrative support for compliance and risk management activities in the faculties.
Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provisioning of effective secretariat services: Faculty Board, Faculty Board subcommittees, Faculty EXCO and Faculty management
  • Constituting of committees in accordance with statutory and other requirements.
  • Scheduling meetings.
  • Preparation of agendas.
  • Electronic compilation of meeting documentation.
  • Writing reports.
  • Handling of correspondence regarding the committees.
  • Liaising with committee members.
  • Keeping records according to the Records Management policy of the NWU.
  • Logistical arrangements of meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, statutory requirements and terms of reference.
  • Ensure clean and transparent corporate governance within structures and processes.
  • Ensure election and appointment processes for committee members. 
 Ensure administrative support for compliance and risk management activities in the faculties
  • Ensuring that risk management matters serve at the correct committees in the faculties for consultation and discussion.
  • Ensuring that compliance matters serve at the correct committees in the faculties for consultation and discussion
  • Ensuring, through the Risk and Compliance Coordinator, training and assistance to staff in the faculties regarding compliance and risk.

Minimum requirements

  • Higher Certificate in Corporate Governance or Public Administration.
  • 3 Years’ experience in secretariat work and minute taking.
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
  • 1 Years’ experience in a university environment is desirable.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Computer literate with regards to MS Office, Internet, and E-mail.
  • Report and minute writing skills.
  • Meeting administration procedures.
  • Basic corporate governance principles.
  • Compliance governance principles.
  • Risk management principles. 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency.
  • Work effectively in a team.
  • Apply effective time management skills and priorities.
  • Effective planning skills.
       

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
