North-West University Location: Vanderbijlpark Campus Division: Student Life Position Number: V000168 Vacancy: Senior Administrative Assistant – SCC Reporting To: Director-Student Life Peromnes Grade: P12 Employment Type: Permanent Purpose of the position is to provide administrative support to the Students’ Campus Council (SCC) of the North-West University, Vanderbijlpark Campus and the office of the Director: Student Life.
Job description

Key Responsibilities:
1)    Secretariat, Text and Language Editing
·         Responsibility for the weekly agendas and minutes of SCC meetings.
·         Responsibility for text and language editing of various leadership structures’ documents on a daily basis.
·         Yearly training for secretaries of leadership structures resorting under the SCC.
 
2)    Financial Governance
·      Complete all financial tasks within the student leadership portfolio in accordance with relevant financial policies of the NWU.
·     Initiate and monitor fundraising activities within the student leadership portfolio.
 
3)    Occupational Health and Safety
·         Attend quarterly health and safety meetings.
·         Responsibility for the maintenance of SCC offices.
·         Reporting of health and safety related issues.
·         Administration of office keys.
·         Occupational Health and Safety representative, First Aider and Fire Marshal.
·         Ensure compliance to all Covid-19 related matters.
 
4)    Student Leadership
·         Coordinate and monitor all student leadership elections as per the NWU guidelines on student elections, including but not limited to the SCC, House Committees and any related student structure or club.
 
5)    Ad Hoc projects
·         Complete, coordinate and monitor any delegated project within the student leadership portfolio
 

Minimum requirements

Minimum requirements:
·         Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma NQF 7 (essential)
·         2 years’ experience in Administration / Coordination of student activities (essential)
·         1 year experience in tertiary student leadership environment (desirable)
 
Functional & Technical competencies
·         Computer literate
·         Good communication skills
·         Good administrative skills
·         Ability to communicate in more than one language

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
