Job description

Purpose of the position:

Maintenance of buildings within a designated group of facilities. This includes but not limited to the following: buildings, structural elements, building finishes ( fixed and fittings), building services.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilities Management (Reactive and Planned Maintenance): Implement planned maintenance programs and processes for both reactive and planned maintenance.
  • Ensure that maintenance work is carried according to acceptable standards: Ensure that work is being attended to and completed within prescribed time. Ensuring quality workmanship
  • Liaison and communication (Stakeholder Management): Liaison with internal and external client
  • Carry out regular building inspections: Record all deferred maintenance items and generate job cards
  • Assigning maintenance work to maintenance contractors: Work assigned in accordance with university procurement policies and departmental procedure on IWMS.
  • Ensure safe working environment: Ensure that all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with OHS standards and legal safety requirements

 

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

  • Matric or N3 (RPL can be applied to recognise skills obtained through experience) relevant to facilities maintenance is essential
  • 3 years’ technical experience related to building maintenance is essential
