Job description

Responsibilities:
●                Operational activities include routine analysis, strict adherence to laboratory protocols and methods, routine equipment maintenance
●                Quality Control verification and monitoring
●                Accreditation - continuous contribution and maintenance of system
●                General Laboratory Administration Tasks
●                Ad hoc tasks.

Minimum requirements

●                BSc. Hons Biochemistry or Chemistry or B.Tech Biomedical (Clinical Path/Chemistry path) is essential.
●                Registration with Health Profession Council of South Africa is essential      
●                Candidates should be able to provide a portfolio of evidence for training undergone.
 
 Functional/ Technical Competencies:
 
●                Basic computer literacy/skills
●                Experience in Laboratory Information Systems is advantageous
●                Basic knowledge in lab quality assurance and lab accreditation (ISO/SANAS)
●                Basic knowledge of LC/GC-MS equipment and its’ applications.
●                Reporting and verification of results
●                Laboratory stock acquisition/ordering and timeous inventory management    
●                Equipment book of life and training logs maintenance    
●                Operating in accordance with ISO standards as well as writing of Standard Operating Procedures as required    
●                Adhere to occupational health and safety act as well as laboratory safety protocols         
 
Behavioural competencies
 
●                Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment
●                Good communication Skills (Afrikaans and English)
●                Being able to work under pressure and to remain calm in a stressful situation
●                Ability to take instruction and provide guidance well
●                Good ethical conduct and handling all patient information and data as confidential
